The Power of "Tell-A-Friend" Marketing on Internet

Here are interesting exchanges on the subject of “Tell-a-Friend Tool” among us Internet Consultants:

Has anyone here used a tell-a-friend tool in any of your sites?  Or has anyone used any of those recommended in the book 101 Ways to Promote Your Website?  Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.  --N.

I think “tell a friend” is probably THE most important strategy for turbo-charging referrals. The message comes from a friend so it's welcome and legal. Your client's marketing message arrives intact, not just what the referrer remembers, and those who arrive at the page have the same ability to recommend your client's services to their friends.  --G.D.

I built a site www.berkshireballroom.org that has it on top of every page.  “Email a Friend” page has been consistently the most-used page in the last six months, and the site's traffic has been growing 25% or more month after month.  --Leh-Wen Yau

Bravo Leh-Wen Yau! The e-mail is clean and short, it shows the referrer's e-mail address in the from field, and you are returned to the page you were on when the sending process is complete.

That's the way to turn your visitors into your sales force!

I gave it a try:
